Charity Shop Madness! & A Quick Catch-Up

Hello Hello!

I'm sure I've mentioned this at some point in the past, but I have to say I truly hate charity shops. The focal point of the local community is like a mini-high street, that used to have all sorts of useful/odd/cute shops. But the recession has well and truly hit hard, so we're stuck with about 8 charity shops all within 30 seconds walk of each other... ugh!

Aside from the fact they are over-running my little high street, they all seem to be full of complete shit. There have been occasions where I have found literally nothing and just bought for the sake of it. I have this madness that overcomes me, it makes me think that buying from charity shops is cool.

Then I get home, realise I've bought a size 16 cardigan with a zillion holes in it, and think. WHY? and NEVER AGAIN.

So against this backdrop of horrid charity shops and my complete disdain for them, I have to say that I actually have found something worth spending my hard-earned pennies on. Incredibly, it fits me, has no holes in it, it's from Miss Selfridge and it's ace. As soon as I saw it, my brain had a little arguement:

"Buy it" said one half.

"We've been here before" said t'other.

"But this isn't like the other times!"

"Yes it is, it will end in tears and you'll come running to me saying how you should have trusted me etc..."

"F&*k OFF, I'm buying it"

YES, I won! And no it was definitely not like all the other times, she is a beauty and I cannot stop wearing her. Despite the minor annoyance of there being a bit too many bobbles, I am just too friggin' happy with this. Judge for yourself:

FYI: The burgundy bandage bodycon skirt (serious alliteration!) is from Topshop, last season...

Even Cats love it...

See, she justs wants to be near it...

Lightening doesn't strike twice... These suede, vintage-looking babies were definitely not from a charity shop! They were found in another one of my pet-hates. A sale. At Office.

Speaking of the cat, I have discovered she has a bit of an OCD thing going on. Just like most cats, she just loves to clean herself but just lately she's been overdoing it a little and ripping out her fur. Worrying.

Catch Up Time...

I've had a few emails on my fish eye effect. It's not an effect as such, I used the Nikon Nikkor 10.5mm Fish-eye Lens. I bought it second-hand but believe me it was not cheap. My purse didn't like it at first, but I think now they are on speaking terms.

I received the most sweetest e-mail ever from one of my readers. Seriously, I was having the day from hell. Girl, it's people like you that make me love blogging! :)

Luckily for me (and hopefully for you all too) my lifestyle is probably about to completely change for the better 'cause I'll be able to blog more regularly as I'll have more free time to write and take photos during the day.. YES.

London cityyy: Round 2!

London city

We meet again

After our first tryst last summer, god, I fell in love

My heart longed to return

And so it was written in the stars

My girl Mina's birthday bash

A perfect excuse to see you again

Oh how you've changed, I could barely recognise you

Maybe it was the weather, damn that snow keeping us apart

Even so, you managed to steal my heart.

Forgive me for my mini, poetic outburst.. A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to go down to London to see my girls. Even though it was bitterly cold, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I was lucky enough to do the things I wanted to do last year that time prevented me from getting around to. Perhaps it was fate though, as this time around the Hajj Exhibition was at the impressively huge British Museum.

I visited Brick Lane and it's infamous vintage shops & ethnic food stalls. Gosh, I've never seen so much fur in one place in my life! After looking at a few of the food stalls I really wanted to buy something but I got full on the freebies they gave out, ha!

Went out with my girls Aysha & Amina, we had an absolute ball. Even if we couldn't catch a taxi and waited for what seemed like hours in the snow.

Our hotel was near Canary Wharf, so it was pretty cool to see how the people that work there have everything catered for in the surrounding area. I would love to live & work there.

What I love most about London is the tolerance. Even though it seems like such a hectic place, it manages to somehow seem laid-back at the same time. The impression I got is that people are so much more open-minded than I could ever have imagined.

This year I confronted my biggest fear in London. The Tube. There's something about going underground in small, confined spaces that seriously frightens the life out of me! But it's the cheapest and easiest way to get around so I forced myself onto it. It wasn't as bad as I had feared, but give me a bus any day.

Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch - Such a beaut!

Say hello to Rose!

She's the new addition to my ever growing Michael Kors watch collection. They have me hooked with their sheer elegance and timeless designs. Looking at their website is like a tiny form of torture, teasing me with every new design that appears, begging me to buy more and more. The newest of my small collection was love at first sight. I love everything about it from the tiny cogs beneath the surface to the smooth, shiny trademark links. It is simply stunning.

As Michael Kors himself says: "A great watch can update any outfit and be sporty, luxurious and utilitarian all at the same time" and that is so true. It really does complete an outfit.

Rose Gold has definitely made a comeback recently. It's such an unsual colour and an alternative to the usual yellow gold or silver. It has such a vintage feel to it and compliments most skin tones.

This is the MK5331 and cost me £199 which isn't exactly purse-friendly. If that's a bit too steep there are alternatives out there! ASOS have a very similar watch to this but they've unfortunately sold out. I did have a quick scan on eBay, this seller has 4 available for £20 including postage so get in there quick dolls! LINK!

TOPSHOP Glacier Bow Shoes

Hihihi, dolls!

As you may or may not know, I'm completely and utterly addicted to e-shopping. I just love trawling through page after page of clothes, shoes and jewellery flicking between one shop and another at the click of a button instead of traipsing back and forth in the real shopping world.

I enjoy going out shopping, but there are times where I just don't want to deal with wind, rain or coldness! There are other times where I stumble upon an item in the e-world and just need to touch and feel the real deal before I buy.

These heels from Topshop were one such item I needed to touch. On the website they looked so beautiful, it was love at first sight! They were on sale for a snip at £30, down from £60. Buy, Buy, Buy!!

These babies are from the 'Midheels' section at Topshop but they're not the easiest to walk in. But, as they say, fashion is pain kids.

I'm a sucker for pointy heeled shoes, the bow detailing looks cute, but the pointy heels give them an air of sophistication rather than a cutesy look *shudders*.

These are not one of those pairs that go with absolutely anything. Fortunately for me, my wardrobe is laden with various shades and tones of green to match up with them.

Pining for Burberry & (almost) getting it

Hello m'lovelies!

I don't know about you, but ever since spying the Burberry Silk Satin Trench coat on BeautyCrush's channel, I've been pining for it! It has to be one of the classiest coats I've ever seen! The silk material just oozes femininity and the nude-mocha colour is so flattering on Asian skin-tones.

I love everything about it, except that is, the price. At a smidgeon over £1,000 it's waaay out of my price-range. If I had that sort of cash burning holes in my pockets I'd snap it up in a flash. But alas, my arch-nemesis 'Lack of Funds' emerges victorious in their quest to obstruct my pursuit of materialistic happiness.

The only thing to do then was to hunt down dupes. I've scoured the highest e-mountains and the deepest e-rivers in search of the perfect dupe. I found many along the way that fell short in one way or another, usually the wrong colour, but finally as my energy was beginning to sap I came across a promising find by RARE in their sale.

Now it wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination, it had ruched sleeves that had me holding back the vomit (they disgust me!). Nevertheless, I went out on a limb and bought it. Luckily, one of my besties is the best tailor in the entire world and made a few adjustments for me. And hey presto, I've ended up with a right beaut of a trench!

This is one's for Aisha, Nazneen, Tass, Sriya & Amina... The 'Halima' pose ;)

Hopefully this winter stays mild, otherwise I'll need to wait until the spring to make full use of the coat. Either way, I definitely owe my girl a lifetime supply of haircuts!

For those of you interested in the featuered coat, they've still got some left in their sale for £20! LINK!
